When Everyday Pressure Becomes Overwhelming
Stress is a natural response to pressure and, in short periods, can sometimes help us meet a deadline or respond to a challenge. When that pressure continues for too long, however, it can leave you feeling physically and emotionally exhausted, irritable, anxious or unable to switch off. You may find it harder to concentrate, sleep properly or enjoy the things you normally would.
Burnout can develop when prolonged stress leaves you feeling depleted and unable to recover. Work is a common source of pressure, but relationships, family responsibilities, financial worries and significant life changes can all contribute. Recognising what is placing you under strain can be an important step towards establishing healthier boundaries and finding more effective ways to cope.
